2023 Golf Tournament

The St. Clare of Assisi Charity Golf Tournament is jointly sponsored by the St. Clare Knights of Columbus and St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School. All proceeds benefit St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School and the Charities of the St. Clare Knights of Columbus Council 9708. 2022 Scholarship Recipients

We are proud of our winners of the 2022-2023 Knights of Columbus Council #9708 Scholarship! Through the generosity of K of C Council 9708 Brothers Tony Ogden and his son Carl Ogden, we have added 3 new scholarships to those that were available to this year’s applicants. Seven scholarships were awarded altogether, totaling $12,500 (nearly double last year’s total!). This year’s scholarships were funded by the James and Elizabeth Witten family, the Ogden family, and our Council. Congratulations to all of our Scholarship Winners. May God bless you and guide you – and all of our graduating St. Clare seniors – in your academic endeavors!

Painted Churches Tour 2020

Several of Knights and wives took the opportunity to tour “The Painted Churches” in Schulenburg and across Fayette County. These churches date back to the turn of the 20th century when German and Czech immigrants built dozens of churches across Texas. The four churches that were toured look relatively simple from the outside, but contain incredible works of art within its walls.

		Knights Memorial Dinner Knights, their families, and the widows of our fallen Knights attended a Memorial Mass to remember and honor our fallen Knights. Immediately after Mass, our widows, our Knights and their families are invited to meet at for dinner at: BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse See the Photo Gallery
		2019 – Houston Food Bank. We had a great turn out of volunteers to represent the council at the Houston Food Bank on Saturday, November 16! Volunteers worked hard helping inspect, sort and repackage donated food items for redistribution to the community. See the Photo Gallery
		2019 – Mardi Gras in May Dinner. The winner of the St. Clare Golf Tournament’s Gold Ticket Dinner, Sue Foster, was guest of honor at a Mardi Gras in May celebration hosted by Pat and Mary Alyce Hall and Jerry and Gale Schexnayder Moch. Sue and her guests, including Fr. Vincent and Dr. Al, enjoyed drinks and appetizers on the patio—along with a fun Mardi Gras quiz! Inside, amid many Mardi Gras decorations, dinner featured turkey-sausage gumbo, chicken jambalaya, Cajun white beans and salad. Dessert was Louisiana king cake and pecan pralines. 		2019 – 9th Annual St. Clare of Assisi Golf Scramble On March 30^th the St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School and Knights of Columbus Council 9708 hosted their 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Battleground Golf Club with a record number of 132 golfers. The weather was excellent, and much fun was had by all. Because of the hard work of the golf planning team and generosity of the sponsors, parish and participants, nearly $22,000 was raised to support St. Clare School and the many charitable organizations that the KofC sponsors. 		2019 – 7th Annual Casino Night The Knights of Columbus 2019 Casino Night was a huge success, see the Photo Gallery and check out the fun. 		2018 – St. Clare Golf Dinner Raffle / Dinner with Father On May 5^th the “Dinner with Father” hosted by PGK Mike Hahn and his wife Veronica took place. Won by Kathy Pittman, a long time sponsor of the golf tournament, this new activity associated with the golf tournament promise to become a long-term fixture.
		2018 – 8th Annual St. Clare of Assisi Golf Scramble On March 24^th the St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School and Knights of Columbus Council 9708 hosted their 8th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Battleground Golf Club with over 100 golfers. The weather was excellent, and much fun was had by all. More than $19,000 was raised for St. Clare School for computer technology and many charities of the Knights.We thank the many sponsors for their generous contributions: List of tournament sponsors
		2018 – 3rd Annual Spring Family Picnic Our Spring Family Picnic was held for the Knights and their Families on March 17, 2018; it was also St. Patrick’s Day so there was a lot of Green on display. The picnic featured a cook out with burgers, hot dogs, several sides, and deserts. The highlight of the day was the Easter Egg hunt for the kids, which of course featured “Green Eggs”.
		2018 – 6th Annual Casino Night The Knights of Columbus held our 6th Annual Casino Night on January 27, 2018. This is one of our largest Fundraisers and a wonderful event that raises money for the many charities the Knights of Columbus support. Also Check out the Video!

		2017 Christmas Party The Knights of Columbus held their Annual Christmas Party on Saturday, December 9, 2017, in the Parish Hall. Each family brought an ornament for an ornament exchange. Dancing began after dinner with tunes provided by Knight Lee Usry.
		Mass and a Meal Fellowship Dinner The Knights of Columbus held a Parish Fellowship Dinner on Saturday, November 18 at the St. Clare Family Life Center. Each plate included, chicken and a choice of sausage or pork ribs, sides of potato salad, beans, bread, ice tea, and desert.
		100th Anniversary of Fatima On Friday, October 13, 2017 St. Clare Parish hosted a celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Fatima. This was a Diocese wide event celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Virgin Mary’s appearance at Fatima. The St. Clare Knights of Columbus assisted in the procession ceremony with the statue of the Virgin Mary.
		Hurricane Harvey Fund Raiser On Saturday, September 30, 2017 the St. Clare Knights of Columbus served 265 smoked meat dinners and donated over $1600 to the St. Clare’s Christian’s in Action ministry to assist the victims of Hurricane Harvey. A Special Thanks to those that purchased dinners or made a donation, and to those Knights and spouses that worked the event.
		Knights Christen Cooker and Holy Pot The Knights Christen Cooker and a Holy Pot. On Saturday, July 8, 2017 the St. Clare Knights of Columbus christened their new Cooker by smoking ribs, chicken, and making chili. The initial burn in was not without a few lessons learned, as the surface burner got hot enough to burn through a light kitchen pot. Father Vincent was on hand to proclaim this a “Holy Pot”.
		2017 Grand Knight Appreciation Dinner On Sunday, September 17,2017, the Knights held their Grand Knight Appreciation Dinner to honor Former Grand Knight Mike Hahn. The event was held at Gaidos Seafood Restaurant in Galveston, TX
		Hurricane Harvey Clean Up A Special Thanks to all of our Hurricane Harvey Volunteers. Harvey hit August 25, 2017 and the St. Clare Knights of Columbus joined with other members of the parish to help those most severely affected by Hurricane Harvey. Volunteers met in the church parking lot every day for weeks following the storm; a heartening display for those in need in the community. The St. Clare Christians in Action group continues to see and increased need for those affected by the storm.
		Member Ice Cream Social A Member Ice Cream Social was held on July 20, 2017 in the Parish Hall. All met for lots of great ice cream with family and friends as well as “Meet and Greet” Bingo Games with prizes by age groups.
		Member Wine Tasting A fun Member Social was held at Total Wine on May 16, 2017 in Baybrook Mall. Each person could select wines from a list provided by Total Wine, and a cheese / fruit tray.
		KofC Parish Breakfast The St. Clare Parish Breakfast was held in the St. Clare of Assisi Family Life Center on June 25, 2017. They served up scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, coffee, tea, juice, milk, and a lot of fun. The Parish Breakfast continues to grow in popularity.
		Spring Family Picnic Our Spring Family Picnic was held Saturday April 15, 2017 at the Christian Renewal Center at 1515 Hughes Road, Dickinson, TX 77539. This member event is full of great food, fellowship, and activities for the children
		5th Annual Casino Night “Fun Raiser” We held our 5th Annual Casino Night on January 21, 2017. This is one of our largest Fundraisers which raises money for the many charities the Knights of Columbus support.

		KofC Parish Breakfast – St Clare Feast Day The 3rd St. Clare Parish Breakfast was held in the St. Clare of Assisi Family Life Center on August 14, 2016. The Knights hosted the complimentary breakfast for the Parish in honor of St. Clare’s Feast Day. They served up scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, coffee, tea, juice, milk, and a lot of fun. The Parish Breakfast continues to grow in popularity, doubling in size from each of the previous two events; approximately 180 people on Sunday
		St. Clare of Assisi Golf Scramble 6th Annual St. Clare of Assisi Golf Scramble Saturday April 2, 2016 for the Benefit of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School and Knights of Columbus # 9708
		Good Friday On Good Friday, March 25, 2016, Father Vincent coordinated with the Knights of Columbus for a Silent Adoration of the Cross. Parishioners took turns, on the cross and as witnesses, while the 4th Degree Knights stood as honor guard.
		Spring Family Picnic Our Spring Family Picnic was held Saturday March 19, 2016 at the Christian Renewal Center at 1515 Hughes Road, Dickinson, TX 77539. This member event is full of great food, fellowship, and activities for the children
