On March 30th the St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School and Knights of Columbus Council 9708 hosted their 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Battleground Golf Club with a record number of 132 golfers. The weather was excellent, and much fun was had by all. Because of the hard work of the golf planning team and generosity of the sponsors, parish and participants, nearly $22,000 was raised to support St. Clare School and the many charitable organizations that the KofC sponsors. 2018 Knights Volunteer at Houston Food Bank
The St. Clare Knights volunteer at Houston Food Bank; this was a very rewarding experience where the Knights of Columbus, family and friends all participate in packaging food for Houston’s hungry. On Saturday, November 3, our group worked on the Backpack Buddy Program filling bags of food that are distributed to hungry children. Nutritious, kid-friendly food is provided for the weekend for at-risk children in schools grades K-12, as well as at summer meal program sites. See the Video of the day (click to enlarge).

New Council Shirt Orders
With the addition of many new members, we will place a logo shirt order. This time around, we will again have the short sleeve button down collar dress shirts and the long sleeve denim shirt. The Polo knit shirt choices will be a Nike dri-fit polyester shirt and a 60/40 cotton poly. Shirt. I am also including an alternative to the Nike Dri Fit for those not wanting to patronize Nike. Following are the choices for this order:
- Long sleeve denim shirt in 100% cotton. Sizes are XS through 4XL. Estimated cost is $37.
- Short sleeve button down collar in 55/45 cotton/poly. XS thru 4XL. Color choice is Light Stone or Royal Blue. Estimated cost is $32
- Short sleeve knit collared polo with “moisture wicking technology”. This is a 60/40 cotton /poly These shirts will be ordered in navy only. Sizes are XS thru 4XL. Estimated cost is $33
- Short sleeve Nike Dri-Fit collared polo. This is a 100% poly fabric. Navy blue only. Sizes are XS thru 4XL. The estimated cost for this shirt is $49
- For those not wishing to purchase a Nike Product, I have found an alternative.
Port Authority Dri Zone 100% Poly (Same as Nike above) Navy blue with Lt blue trim stripe on sleeve cuff. Sizes are XS thru 4XL. Estimated cost $36
All shirts will have the Council 9708 logo on the left hand side and your name on the right side.
The cost is estimated because the shipping cost is allocated equally over the number of shirts ordered and may vary by a couple of dollars.
If you want to order a shirt(s) you need to send me an E-mail with your choice(s) and include your color choice and your size. You also need to designate exactly how you want your name to be embroidered on the shirt.
I will order the shirts ASAP and The Council will pay the invoice when the shirts are delivered. You will write your check to Council 9708 when you pick up your shirt order.
You should send orders to bill.cory@comcast.net . If you have any questions, you can call or text me at 832-259-7198 Your fast response will help to get the shirts delivered by Christmas.
Fraternally,
Bill Cory

The St. Clare Knights of Columbus received the following for their 2018 American Wheelchair Mission contributions, giving to the mission of delivering life changing wheelchairs to people and families in dire need of mobility. Since 2003, collectively the Knights of Columbus have funded the delivery of tens of thousands of wheelchairs around the world, and right here at home. Thousands of veterans and their families across the United States in need of wheelchairs have received new mobility, and honor the Knights with their thanks and prayers.

2018 Scholarship Awards
The St. Clare Knights of Columbus presented the 2018 Scholarship Awards at the graduation dinner on May 20. The St Clare Knights began awarding scholarships to deserving high school graduates in 2012; since then, the Knights have funded scholarships totaling more than $34,000.
This year the St. Clare Knights awarded scholarships totaling $6,750 including the $3,000 Elizabeth Witten Scholarship. James Witten was a 4th degree Knight, and the funding of this scholarship is one of the many ways his family honors his and his wife’s memory. Grand Knight Jerry Moch presented this year’s Scholarship Awards to Michelle “Missy” Parma $3,000 (Witten Scholarship sponsored by Kathy and Grant Pitman); Rebecca Rupp $1,000; Elizabeth Saiz $1,000; and Juliana Judge $1,000; and Katherine Toerner $750. Scholarship awards are sent directly to the admitting school in August to be used for any expense posted by the school for the student. See more photos.
