After a very successful 2022 St. Clare Golf Tournament, representatives from the Knights and the School present Fr. Vincent with a check for $12,000 for the St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School.

On Saturday, May 28, 2022, the St. Clare Knights Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity at a home in La Porte, TX.   This service day was focused on painting the home and storage shed .  Council volunteers pre-washed, taped, and painted mostly exterior surfaces on this beautiful new home.  Great weather, fun, and joy were experienced by all!

 

On Thursday, May 12, 2022, the St. Clare Knights of Columbus presented Paul Baczek with his Honorary Membership Card.  Honorary Membership is awarded to Members who have attained the actual age of 65 years and who have been members of the Order for 25 consecutive years.  Congratulations Paul !

 

On May 5, 2022, the St. Clare Knights recognized their Program Directors for winning 2 State Awards at the State Convention.  The Council received 1st Place for their Life Program – Supporting Pregnancy Centers led by John Soisson, and 1st Place for their Faith Program – Rosary Program led by Mel Hizon.  The St. Clare Knights were the only Council in the entire state to win 2 state awards!  This is the 2nd year in a row the Council has been the only Council to win 2 state awards.  Congratulations to the entire Council, especially those who have worked so hard to make these Programs a great success.

The St. Clare Knights held another Baby Shower for the Loving Choice Pregnancy Center in May.  The Knights have helped the center with previous Baby Showers and with the build and expansion of offices.  Loving Choice provides emotional, educational, material, and spiritual support to expectant mothers and fathers who are faced with an unplanned pregnancy.  It is also a non-profit 501c3 organization.

The St. Clare Knights (Council 9708) attended the 2022 State Convention in Corpus Christi, TX (Apr 29 – May 1).  During the Convention the Council received 2 State Awards for their Faith in Action Programs; 1^st Place for their Life Program – Supporting Pregnancy Centers, and 1^st Place for their Faith – Rosary Program.  The St. Clare Knights were the only Council in the state to win 2 awards.  Congratulations to the entire Council and especially those who worked so hard to make these programs a great success.

The Knights of Columbus donated $14,000 to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School for new math books.  The Knights presented the $14,000 check to Fr. Vincent and Principal Martin Flaherty after mass on Sunday, April 24.  The donation will be used to purchase math books for all grades pre-K to 8th grade at the school.

The St. Clare Knights observed Good Friday, April 15, with a Living Cross.  Members of the parish were invited to participate by spending 10 minutes on the cross while the 4th Degree Knights stood as honor guards.  The event ran from sunrise to 3 pm, with a one hour break at noon for the Living Stations of the Cross.

The St. Clare Knights hosted a Fish Fry every Friday during Lent followed by the Stations of the Cross.  The Knights served well over 1,000 meals for the season.

The Knights donated $1,300 to St. Clare of Assisi School to upgrade and replace the school’s US, Texas, and Papal display flags.  The check was presented to Fr. Vincent after Saturday evening mass on April 2.
