Bingo Prize Fee Distribution
The Council recently received its first Bingo Prize Fee distribution check.
Texas recently passed bill HB 914 which was designed to help more of the prize fees go directly to Texas bingo charities rather than counties and municipalities. For a charity to receive the prize fee, each county or municipality had to vote not to impose the prize fee, or not vote at all, in which case the charities would receive the fees. Harris County declined to vote allowing those fees to be returned to County charities. Unfortunately, the City of Houston voted to impose the fee and thus kept their portion of the fees.
A sincere thanks to the Harris County Commissioners for recognizing the benefits of local charities such as the Knights of Columbus and the service they provide to our community. Thank you.
